Stop Recommending Low Volume Keywords

it seems like about 50%+ of the keywords suggested by Opteo end up having to be shut off due to "low search volume". Doesn't seem like a big deal but I like to add exacts to their own or very similar ad group and add them as negatives. It costs some me time and clicks.

This is a good idea.
I think the problem of low search volume suggestions can be solved by using the Keyword Planner API to check if there's enough search volume available. We'd have to take into consideration your location targeting to get search volume estimates for your particular locations...
The other, quicker way to solve this is for us to set a threshold on the minimum number of impressions (eg. 10 impressions) on a search term before Opteo flags it up. That's easier but less good because you might miss out on potentially lucrative new keywords.
We've also talked internally about "improvement settings" which would let you edit thresholds for improvements (as Stuart Henry Meyler and David Fowler have suggested). So in this case you would be able to set your own minimum impressions before you see a task for a search term. You might adapt this threshold depending on the size of the account for instance. But this would be a bigger project that would impact all improvement tasks.
I think using Keyword Planner would be the way to go. It's not something we've worked with before so not sure how difficult it is yet. Needs to be explored before we can make a decision.

Right now after a single click a recommendation is generated for a new keyword. It would be nice to be able to change that threshold to a user specified value at a client or account level. On mature accounts, the current system generates too many recommendations that add low volume keywords.

Many of our improvement suggestions have "Add Keyword from Search Term" with only 1 click and 0 conversions which creates a lot of noise for nothing. I'd love to have a possibility to define what's the minimum engagement of a search term to be considered a valuable suggestion.

Yes, yes! We would like the ability to customize different thresholds for things like that (ie don't tell me about anything that is at less than 90% confidence for example).
